About this Campaign
Kamusime Manuella grew up believing that every child deserved a chance to learn, dream, and grow in a safe environment. Yet in many communities around her, she saw children carrying heavy loads, selling items on the streets, or working long hours instead of sitting in classrooms. Child labor had silently become a part of daily life.
Like an illness, child labor slowly harms not only children but also families and communities. Many parents facing extreme poverty feel they have no choice but to send their children to work so the family can survive. While the money earned may help buy food for the day, it often steals the child’s chance for education, ambition, and a brighter future.
Determined to make a difference, Manuella started a project called “Empowering Young Minds and Families.” Her initiative focuses on children at Alpha Primary and Junior School in Kibwa Zone, Wakiso District. Through this project, she works to encourage education and ambition among young learners.
Manuella organizes sensitization meetings with parents and guardians to discuss the dangers of child labor and the importance of protecting children. She also helps provide scholastic materials to support learning and motivates families to keep their children in school.
At the same time, the project equips children with safe and practical handcraft skills that can build creativity and confidence without interfering with their education. These skills inspire them to think about future opportunities rather than immediate survival.
Manuella strongly believes that families are meant to protect and nurture children, not expose them to harmful labor. Every child deserves safety, education, and the opportunity to pursue their dreams. By working together as a community, she believes young minds can be empowered and their futures protected.
