Nsubuga Shalimar is a brave young girl who understands what it means to live with asthma. She was diagnosed with the condition at the age of five. Since then, she has learned that asthma affects breathing and can be triggered by dust, smoke, and cold weather. Sometimes people living with asthma need inhalers to help them breathe more easily when they feel short of breath.

Growing up with asthma has not always been easy for Shalimar. There are moments when she has to miss swimming lessons or fun playtime with friends because her breathing becomes difficult. During an asthma attack, the feeling can be frightening, and she knows how scary it is when the air does not seem enough.

Because of her own experience, Shalimar understands that many children silently struggle with the same challenge. In places where the environment is dusty or polluted, breathing can become even harder for children living with asthma.

This inspired her to start a project called “Little Hearts With Asthma Care.” Through this initiative, she wants to educate her fellow pupils about asthma and the importance of keeping their environment clean and safe. By reducing dust, smoke, and other triggers around schools and homes, children with asthma can breathe more comfortably and participate fully in school activities.

Shalimar also hopes to encourage kindness and understanding among students so that children with asthma feel supported rather than left out.

Her message is simple but powerful: every child deserves to breathe freely, feel safe, and enjoy childhood. By working together to keep our environment clean, Shalimar believes we can help many little hearts live healthier and happier lives.
