About this Campaign
Queen Najjuka Shanis Shamirah is deeply committed to supporting vulnerable people in her community. Her project focuses on helping the disabled and mentally challenged residents at the Missionaries of the Poor Bethlehem home located in Nateete. Bethlehem is a provisional home that provides shelter and care for the less fortunate who have nowhere else to go.
The home currently cares for 64 residents, including orphans, the crippled, the blind, the deaf, and the dumb. Many of them are physically and mentally challenged, which makes it difficult for them to carry out everyday activities on their own. Some of these residents were rescued from the streets, while others were brought by relatives who could no longer care for them.
Before arriving at Bethlehem, many of the residents lived in very poor conditions, which affected their health and weakened their immunity. To help them regain strength, the caregivers provide several meals a day, including fruits to boost their body immunity. The home offers all this care free of charge and does not require the residents to pay for any services.
However, because many of the residents have mental challenges, maintaining hygiene and sanitation at the home is very important. Some residents may pick up and eat anything they find on the ground, which can be harmful to their health. For this reason, the environment must be cleaned regularly to keep it safe and healthy.
Through her initiative, Queen Najjuka Shanis Shamirah hopes to support Bethlehem by providing essential cleaning materials. By helping maintain a clean and safe environment, she believes the residents can live healthier and more dignified lives.
